BRUSH BOOK BED
BRUSH BOOK BED

Brush Book Bed (BBB) is a program to enable families with children to have healthy nighttime routines. This program will be implemented by safety net clinics, Parent as Teachers (PAT), and Healthy families in each region.

The resources provided by OHK to educators are as follows:

For Families

Oral hygiene kits are given to establish a daily routine of brushing because toothbrushing reduces the risk of cavities.

Storybooks are provided as a part of encouraging parents to read to child from a young age. Reading a book increases literacy skills and language development. The books that will be given are: Potter the otter: Visit the dentist, Potter the otter: Tale about water, Happy Teeth.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
is a book gifting program that mails free, high-quality books to children from birth to age five, no matter their family's income. Go to their website for more information and to find out if it's available in your area!

For Educators

Here is a short video to watch before you start Brush Book Bed!

Implementation
Educators will be provided with a recorded presentation of the Brush Book Bed program. The first step for educators is to conduct a pretest for a family. The questions for the pretest will be given by OHK. Once the pretest is conducted each family will be provided with a storybook, oral hygiene kits, and a flier. After six months, the educators then conduct a posttest with the same families. The questions are provided by OHK and each family is given a storybook at this stage. Pretest and posttest outcome evaluation will be done using a Google form which will be provided by OHK.
