Health Reform

When the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act was signed into law on March 23, 2010, it elicited a host of questions about the implications for dental safety net providers, educators and oral health coalitions throughout the country. Oral Health Kansas joined the Michigan Oral Health Coalition and Virginia Oral Health Coalition to provide timely education about the new law to our constituents across the country on April 12, 2010. This webinar is the beginning of a series of similar educational opportunities offered by our coalitions.

We were thrilled to have the expertise of the Children’s Dental Health Project (CDHP) guide us through the new law. Throughout the health reform debate, CDHP was one of the leading advocates for the inclusion of oral health in the final health reform product. The staff and leadership monitored the many iterations of the legislation, providing necessary expertise and mobilizing its significant grassroots network throughout. We thought of no better expert to offer an overview of the oral health provisions in the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act than Dr. Burton Edelstein, the founder and chair of the Children’s Dental Health Project.
